An ASTA Camp for big(ger) kids! Come join us for the 3rd annual “Fiddlin’ Around In Georgia!” Fiddle Camp. This camp is an extension of the already wildly popular ASTA elementary and middle school orchestra camps and will run from June 9 through June 12, 2008. We are thrilled to have Crystal Plohman as our lead teacher! Be forewarned that this is not a beginner camp and is designed for students through 12th grade who already have some skill on violin, viola, cello, or bass. Previous fiddling experience is not necessary. For students and teachers of all ages. All techniques and tunes will be taught through demonstration, call and response, using auditory and visual learning styles. Participants will learn new practice techniques, new moves and grooves, American fiddle styles including Irish, old-time, bluegrass, western swing, Cajun, and blues. Participants will be organized into practice cells so that each session will be followed by a guided practice session of the material. Adults interested in earning teaching credits will be given the opportunity to run the practice cells. Check back for more information on PLU credit. Applications are available as a part of the main brochure here. |
